HYPE Energy NASCAR Event a Success                     08.30.10

Can Your School Rock would like to extend our HUGE gratitude to HYPE Energy and to their amazing staff for putting on such a great event this past weekend at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.
When asked to provide the talent for this event, founder Sandro Mauro immediately knew who to call on to best represent HYPE's dynamic events. "What better place to gather people than a race track," said former F1 Mechanic. "You have tons of people that want to have a good time and enjoy the rocking infield festivities, and that's exactly what CYSR and HYPE set out to do for this weekend."

Can Your School Rock's newest addition to the Judging panel and world renown drummer Paul Lizzi pumped the giant crowd at the circuit (pounding away at our  very own CYSR drumkit!) and electrifying them when performing his world release single Drum Luvin'. Season 1 kings Basement Superheroes astonished the race fans with their single Cry Baby. Season 2's runner up Corrosion was also on deck as a supporting act. Jessica Loren dazzled the crowd with a brilliant set and the newly crowned season 2 winners the Chair Warriors, returning to the live stage for the first time since the competition came to an end, closed the show.

The Chair Warriors Take Season 2                                         08.29.10

Second time's the charm for returning the final-four electro-rock ensemble from Season 1. The Chair Warriors were selected to take the prize on Global's CYSR series edging out fierce grunge finalists Corrosion, Toronto's Azweiz and unforgettable progressive metalheads Peak of the Pendulum. The staff and judges congratulate the Chair Warriors on becoming the new kings of Can Your School Rock. The finale will be posted on the media page soon.

Supporting acts include Corrosion, CYSR judge and world-renowned drummer Paul Lizzi and Jessica Loren backed by CYSR stars Fred DiSanto and Sandro Mauro. This will be louder than the F1 event! Tickets are now available at your local box office.

Grand Finale Procedures                                                                    06.08.10

For this final installment of Season 2's Can Your School Rock, all bands must be at the top of their game. Bands are required to perform 2 of their best songs plus an additional song never performed for the judges in back to back to back sequence. Bands cannot use the song that was performed during the recording of "The Big 8". Should there be a guitar change in this set, it must be executed seamlessly.

Two bands will be chosen to move forward and compete for the title. Bands will need to perform an original song of their choice however this song cannot be a composition that was just played in the previous sequence and bands will complete the journey with the original song recorded during the recording of "The Big 8".

This year the management wants the audience to have their say with a vote box. Fans will be able to vote for their favorite band during the deliberation session and it will consist of 50% of the judges' verdict. The final four are encouraged to bring their diehard fans, as it will directly affect the decision.

Remember, there are no points for second place. Good luck to all!

CYSR & the F1 Grand Prix du Canada Hook Up!       05.28.10

CYSR’s creator and former F1 chief mechanic Sandro Mauro is no stranger to the fast-paced, world-trotting life of the Formula 1 circuit. Traveling years around the world with the most technologically advanced machines mankind can produce, it takes more than just horsepower to get people to cheer for your team. It takes branding, a solid public relations effort and events that stick in the hearts and minds of the audience. CYSR and the Grand Prix du Canada F1 weekend are a perfect match. Montreal PR gurus Chazz Communications and Akon’s  Hitlab.com has facilitated CYSR and its fans to benefit from this amazing opportunity.

With the help of Lucky Graphix, the CYSR F1 Lounge opens its new booth to everyone in the heart of downtown Montreal on Peel Street, Thursday June 10th through June 13 in front of les Cours Mont Royal.

A super smash Season 2 Wrap-up Party is open to all on Friday June 11th beginning at 8 pm along with Season 1 kings Basement Superheroes performing live at 9 pm on the Ferrari Stage.

Scarlett Johansson and other celebrities will be in attendance. Catch the opportunity to hang out with the cast and crew of Can Your School Rock along with Global Montreal and ET Canada. Stand up for the 6,000 lives thrown away each year due to texting while driving by signing Oprah’s No Phone Zone Pledge.

“I want to thank Chazz Communications and Hitlab for adding Can Your School Rock on the bill. We never really had a wrap party last year and I wanted to make sure we would this year, so what better way to say thank you to all my staff and sponsors that do the outmost for CYSR then to host this amazing party on the most prestigious weekend in Montreal,” added Mauro.

CYSR Teams up with Oprah's "No Phone Zone"      05.05.10

Can Your School Rock creator and judge Sandro Mauro is proud to announce that he will join the campaign of television's most powerful woman, Oprah Winfrey's No Phone Zone. Using CYSR  -- an event with no shortage of teenagers-- as a vessel to carry out the message of safe driving without the lethal distraction of texting and talking on mobile phones, Sandro Mauro will push the issue this saturday on stage. "I believe that this message is a no brainer. As a concerned driver and a parent, I can use the CYSR events to get this message across to young drivers across the country." says Mauro.

SES Behind the Board at Grand Finale                                05.12.10

Returning for a second season, lighting and stage wizards SES has been signed on to take care of the upcoming CYSR Grand Finale. To ensure the best quality sound for the televised event, show creator and judge Sandro Mauro has given the mandate to Valerio Zeffiro and his professional team at Special Events Services Montreal this week. The final installment for CYSR: Season 2 is shaping up to be a monster of a show!
